Product Details
Falcon Alloy 20 Plug Valves are the industry standard for handling "Hot Sulfuric Acid" and other aggressively corrosive media where standard stainless steels suffer from rapid SCC (Stress Corrosion Cracking).
In our Alloy 20 (Carpenter 20) line, we focus on the Non-Lubricated Sleeved Plug Valve design. This design is specifically engineered for brine and chemical services that require a "bubble-tight" shut-off and a cavity-free flow path.

Cavity-Free Design: Unlike ball valves, plug valves do not have a cavity where brine or chemicals can get trapped, crystallize, and cause the valve to seize.
Top-Entry Maintenance: The plug can be adjusted or the sleeve replaced without removing the valve body from the pipeline, significantly reducing downtime.
Self-Cleaning Action: The rotation of the plug against the PTFE sleeve wipes away any scale or salt buildup, making it ideal for saturated brine and slurry services.
360° Seating: The large seating area of the sleeve ensures a reliable seal even if the media contains small suspended solids.
Falcon ensures that the chemical balance of our Alloy 20 is strictly maintained to provide the "Sulfuric Acid Defense" it is famous for.
Cast Grade (Body/Plug): ASTM A494 CN7M. This grade contains high levels of Nickel ($32-38\%$) and Copper ($3-4\%$) to stabilize the material against acid attack.
Forged/Wrought Grade (Stem/Small Parts): ASTM B462 / B473 (UNS N08020). Used for high-torque stems to ensure mechanical reliability during operation.
Sulfuric Acid Production: Handling concentrations of $20\%$ to $90\%$ sulfuric acid at elevated temperatures.
Chemical Processing: Mixing tanks and transfer lines for phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and mixed acid streams.
Brine Electrolysis: Handling acidified brine in Chlor-Alkali plants.
Food & Pharmaceutical: Processing organic acids where contamination-free flow is required.
Pickling Lines: Used in steel mills for acid-wash bypass and isolation valves.
To guarantee the integrity of our Alloy 20 Plug Valves, Falcon performs:
Helium Leak Testing: Available for critical chemical services to ensure zero atmospheric emissions.
Positive Material Identification (PMI): To verify the Nickel and Copper content essential for Alloy 20's performance.
Low-Torque Verification: Every valve is cycled multiple times to ensure the plug-to-sleeve interface is perfectly calibrated.
Visual Inspection (MSS-SP-55): Ensuring the internal casting of the "CN7M" body is smooth and free of defects to prevent turbulence-induced erosion.
Falcon Alloy 20 Plug Valves provide the perfect balance between the economy of stainless steel and the performance of high-nickel alloys.
Below is the technical comparison and specific grade data for Falcon Alloy 20 Plug Valves.
1. Alloy 20 vs. Hastelloy C276: Selection GuideWhile both are high-performance alloys, they serve different niches in the brine and acid industry.
| Feature | Alloy 20 (CN7M) | Hastelloy C276 (CW-12MW) |
| Primary Strength | Sulfuric Acid ($H_2SO_4$) | Hydrochloric Acid ($HCl$) & Chlorine |
| Temperature | Excellent up to $150^{\circ}C$ | Excellent up to $400^{\circ}C+$ |
| Cost | More economical | Premium pricing |
| Falcon Recommendation | Best for acid-wash and pickling brine. | Best for "Green Death" or wet chlorine. |
Falcon Alloy 20 Plug Valves are the ultimate choice for balancing long-term corrosion resistance with a low total cost of ownership.
