Monel 400 Butterfly Valves

Falcon specializes in the engineering and manufacture of high-performance Butterfly Valves in Monel 400 and Monel K500. These nickel-copper alloys are specifically chosen for applications where stainless steel and even some bronzes fail due to high-velocity flow or specific chemical reactions.

Our Monel valves are available in Double Offset and Triple Offset configurations, ensuring that the high-strength properties of the material are matched by a high-integrity mechanical seal.

• Double Offset: Ideal for high-cycle marine applications, reducing seat wear and operational torque.

• Triple Offset: Engineered for Zero Leakage in critical chemical lines, providing a cam-action, friction-free metal-to-metal seal.

• Seawater Mastery: Unlike other materials, Monel maintains exceptional resistance to corrosion in fast-flowing seawater, making it ideal for pump discharge and firewater systems.

• Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) Specialist: Monel 400 is one of the few alloys capable of handling all concentrations of hydrofluoric acid up to the boiling point.

• Oxygen Compatibility: Monel is inherently resistant to ignition in high-pressure oxygen environments, often used in medical and industrial gas applications.

• Stress Corrosion Immunity: Virtually immune to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in brine and marine atmospheres.

Due to the specialized nature of Nickel-Copper alloys, Falcon implements strict quality protocols:

1. Dye Penetrant Testing (PT): Mandatory for all Monel castings to ensure no surface porosity.

2. Positive Material Identification (PMI): Verification of Nickel (63% min) and Copper content to ensure alloy integrity.

3. Wall Thickness Verification: Ultrasonic testing to ensure compliance with ASME B16.34 pressure-temperature ratings.

4. Oxygen Cleaning (Optional): For valves destined for oxygen service, Falcon provides specialized degreasing and clean-room packaging.

Falcon Engineering Note: For high-torque applications, we utilize Monel K500 for the valve stems. K500 offers the same corrosion resistance as Monel 400 but with significantly higher yield strength, ensuring the stem does not twist or shear under high differential pressures.
